Sr Bernadeta Fund

Sr. Bernadeta Mbawala was born on 27th October, 1919 at Likuyufusi, near Peramiho to stephen Msikazonge and Agatha Mayanda. After joining the Benedictine community of the Sisters of Sr. Agnes Chipole, she was noticed to have special grace, love for neighbour, obidience, humility and perseverance. She suffered from ulcers, and later on, TB. She persevered through these ailments, and was always happy and smilling. Sr Bernadeta Mbawala passed away on 29th November, 1950. Immediately after her death, people began to visist her grave and prayed there. People report to have been helped by God through the intercession of Sr. Bernadeta.

Now, the Archidiocese of Songea has opened the process of beatifying her, after receiving permission from the Vatican. On 24th January, 2012, the remains of Sr. Bernadeta were exhumed and taken to the Cathedral Church of Songea. On 26th January, 2012,there was Mass, whereby the process was launched. Bishops from the Metropolitan of Songea, government and security officials were among those who participated in the ceremony. To officials were sent from the Vatican as representatives, who thereafter were appointed as the prosecutors of the process.
